Liturgy #10Confession of Faith
What is God? God is a Spirit, in and of himself infinite in being, glory, blessedness, and perfection; all-sufficient, eternal, unchangeable, incomprehensible, everywhere present, almighty, knowing all things, most wise, most holy, most just, most merciful and gracious, long-suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth. Greeting To those who have been called, who are loved by God the Father and kept by Jesus Christ. Mercy, peace and love be yours in abundance. Amen. Call to Worship Psalm 145:1-3 (NASB) I will extol You, my God, O King, And I will bless Your name forever and ever. 2 Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. 3 Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised, And His greatness is unsearchable. Psalm of Adoration Prayer of Invocation Reading of the Law 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 (NASB) If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 If I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, 5does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, 6 does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails; but if there are gifts of prophecy, they will be done away; if there are tongues, they will cease; if there is knowledge, it will be done away. Confession of Sin Lord God, eternal and almighty Father, we acknowledge before Your holy majesty that we are poor sinners, conceived and born in guilt and in corruption. Because of our sin, we endlessly violate your holy commandments. But, O Lord, with heartfelt sorrow we repent and turn away from all our offenses. Have compassion on us, most gracious God, Father of mercies, for the sake of Your Son Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen. Absolution If you sincerely repent of your sins, and believe in the Lord Jesus, then I, in His name, pronounce and affirm that your sins are forgiven, not only on earth, but also in heaven. Amen. Psalm of Thanksgiving Prayer of Intercession Psalm of Preparation Reading of Scripture Prayer for Illumination Sermon Psalm of Lament Celebration of the Lord’s Supper Psalm of Gratitude Benediction May the God of all grace, who called us to His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, perfect, establish, strengthen, and settle you. Amen. |
